I was not so lucky this year with mine. It got buried between flowers that the beneficials love. They won. There is always next year. Hope you continue to find and use information from my blog. That is why I left it continue. Take care. They were so overgrown with long stringy branches growing madly. In May, I finally cut them back and put them outside. After a month, I was convinced that I had killed both of them and went and bought a couple more. Shortly afterwards, both of the old ones started growing like crazy, so I gave the 2 new ones to my son (who also loves gardening). I am glad I found your sight so I can do a better job winterizing them this year. Thank you for providing all of this insight. You may want to check out a book called (no kidding) Dropping Acid, written by an ENT doc, which explains the role of pepsin in setting off acid in the esophagus. Basically, it recommends not consuming any substance that is below a pH of 4 or 5. I've found that restricting acid does make a huge difference, though it's not a cure-all. I'll give ginger tea a try. I'm also going to try deglycerized licorice. Treated as poison oak because that’s how it looked and acted. With all the smoke in the air, every ones immune systems are being taxed and I’ve found reactions to things not normally bothered by. Yesterday my daughter harvested some- something she has done millions of times, but yesterday the arm she carried it in is covered in a rash. We are treating it with home made poison oak type remedies and it’s going away. Heat spreads it - so no hot baths. Cold baths, ice packs and alcohol based herbal tinctures are drying it up, but yes- it does happen.KiOhmAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07843351929813802810noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6580454170080334274.post-57435083836748750882020-08-28T01:56:05.511-04:002020-08-28T01:56:05.511-04:00Thank you! Googled it and came across your writing. Was hoping there'd be comments from others sharing their experiences. I feel maybe my gut bacteria is off (have had other symptoms showing it may be time for me to get things clean & balanced) so maybe I'm extra sensitive to the cleansing properties in lemon verbena. Or have a mild allergy? I'm literally obsessed with it and it's healing, joy-bringing aroma. Haven't tried to drink a tea from it yet. So I'll see if that is an irritant for me too. Thank you for sharing your research, passion & curiosity! The roots are white and springs back, and not mushy or dry. Seems pretty good, but the entire stem is brown and when I bend it it won't snap, but slowly springs back into place with a small dent. I also tried the scratch test and it's not green at all. I did trim it again all the way to about 2 inches of the stem left and put it in natural sun light today for about an hour to two in full sun, but I think I might have killed it because today of all days was a pretty warm day. (Around high 70's with a nice little breeze). I requested for a refund, but haven't heard back from them yet. I just hope I can save this poor plant. I've been trying to find one at my local nurseries since January. Thank you for all your input. Do you know if this nursery was open during that time? I assume someone was behind the scenes taking care of the plants. If the plant has a nice white root structure, you may still have a viable plant. Can you get it outside for some natural light? If not, continue to do what you are doing. We have had extreme circumstances with the shelter in place, but this nursery should return your money if this plant doesn't start to grow soon.Lemon Verbena Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00514737486662443739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6580454170080334274.post-12663776414237152682020-05-22T23:55:51.096-04:002020-05-22T23:55:51.096-04:00It was ordered and shipped May 15th and I received...It was ordered and shipped May 15th and I received it today on the 22nd. I am not sure where you are located and what nursery you purchased your plant from. If you have had it for weeks, I would also say it has died. It should have shown signs of life by now. You are doing the correct things, it just sounds like it was dead before it was sent to you. The leaves and stem were dried/ brown and leaves were dried, shriveled and basically looked dead. I've been doing some research and I think it is in a dormant state. I'm not really sure because I'm a beginner and just started to learn about how to grow plants and veggies in my garden. I cut the dead leaves off and left a little bit right before the last leaf whorl (even though it's pretty much dried and dead) and planted it in a larger pot, added more potting soil and watered it a little bit and left it under lights. Am I doing this right? Will it revive my plant? How would I know if my plant is past the point of no return? Your thoughts and input is much appreciated!!Augiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03997224577851234663noreply@blogger.com
