It's Travel Thursday--Food of Spain and Peru too!

We ate very well while we were in Spain. Bacalao (salted cod) with olive oil, tomato on toasted bread at a local restaurant in Riogordo.
Vegetable tortilla at a restaurant called El Chinitas in Malaga.

The Herbal Husband cooked carapulca with his famous rice. Memories of Peru for our host.

My favorite was paella at the Parador de Nerja. It is a beautiful resort by the Mediterranean Sea. I handled the lobster quite well. It was delish! All of the food we had was spectacular! The view was breathtaking!

  1. Wowza! Amazing food plates, but I'd have to pass on the Bacalao! What exactly is in carapulca? Nancy

  3. It has chicken, pork, peanuts, sherry and the secret ingredient is dried potato. Papa seca is little pieces of dried potato. Literally they are dried on a dirt floor and sometimes you find pieces of stone in the mix! I will give you the recipe. Give me a couple of days. I tried the Bacalao, but it wasn't a favorite of mine either. The Herbal Husband's rice has garlic in it and he tops it with peas or peppers. It just has more taste than Uncle Ben's Minute Rice! Thanks for your comments!
