This 'Black Knight' butterfly bush is a magnet for the butterflies. I think this one is a Viceroy. The Monarchs come later in the season. Butterflies coming to the garden is a great thing! Less humidity and rain today. Hopefully you are having good weather wherever you may be.
Very beautiful. I have always wanted to grow one I just haven't got around to buying one.
ReplyDeleteBuddleia davidii Black Night seems to be the most popular, or the one that most nurseries stock, of the thirty varieties if this lovely plant. Grew one successfully in England; having to nurse along the one we have here in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteI can just smell the flowers looking st your picture, Nancy.
Alan
They grow like weeds here. They are sort of invasive. We have them growing everywhere, but we also lose them quickly as well. I hope you buy one soon Missy and I didn't realize Alan that there were 30 varieties. I have only had a few varieties in this garden. Thanks for stopping by you two.
ReplyDeleteThese grow all over the place in the U.K., on wasteland, by the railway, even on top of walls!
