As I have said before the RHS Malvern Spring Festival has a bit of everything for every kind of gardener or farmer.  It has livestock and then the beautiful displays like the Chelsea Flower Show.  I had never seen flowers, vegetables or herbs displayed like they do at Chelsea.  This is a very inspiring show.  If you are ever in England in early May, be sure to go to the RHS Malvern Spring Festival.  Great Malvern is a beautiful area even without the festivals.

Still cold here but sunny.  Looking for several nice days where we can go and clip down our perennials and get ready for the warmer temperatures.  Hope spring or autumn has come your way.  I have one more part of the RHS Malvern Spring Festival from last year to share with you and then we will finish posting about my 2014 England trip before we get back out in the gardens for the 2015 season.  Will probably talk to you tomorrow.

Continuing with my posts about the 2014 Malvern Spring Festival, with show gardens and other bits and pieces that make this Festival great.  Really the show gardens were just as nice as Chelsea only on a small scale.  I just can't begin to imagine how you come up with an idea and then execute it with plants and structures.  I think it must take great teamwork above all.

Only wish I could have taken some herb plants home.  Got to work with the TSA on that one!  The Cottage Herbery will sadly not be at any RHS shows, but from a look at where they will be across the UK countryside, they will be busy.  They are open for organized groups.  So contact them if you would like a tour for your group.  Kim Hurst is the author of a new book published by Timber Press called "Hidden Histories Herbs".  I'm looking forward to getting a copy in the very near future.

Was happy to see the butcher and other stalls promoting UK products.  Malvern reminded me a lot of the Philadelphia Flower Show with the competitions of different flowers and vegetables.  I particularly was fond of the troughs, both first place awards were particularly good.  The school awards made me smile because you should always try to get your children involved in gardening in any aspect.  So I have more photos to share tomorrow.  Going to try and get this trip posted by the end of the week.  It is almost a year ago that it happened!

Well, decided before I continue the rest of the Geffrye Museum visit, I had to back up and finish my trip to Great Malvern to the Spring Festival with my British herbal sister, Debs and her fab husband for doing all of the driving, Simon!  The day was not the best but I don't remember that it rained or maybe we were inside just at the times that it did rain.  The wind was the issue, but we were all dressed for the wind and weather.  There were lots of outside vendors and inside displays.  I would call it Chelsea Country.  Malvern is more spread out and in several buildings that are permanent structures on the showgrounds.  This is just the start of four total posts on the RHS Malvern Spring Festival.  In the next post, we will see the show gardens and some of the herb gardening vendors.

We had snow at the beginning of the day in the 'Burgh and fortunately it didn't stay long!  This is March weather though!  Up and down.  Hope you had a great day.  Talk to you tomorrow.

I wanted to do a quick post about the Herb Garden at The Geffrye Museum.  And sadly for my friend, Anne in the Herbaholic's Herbs, it isn't going to reopen until March 28!  The Chelsea Physic Garden is only open Monday through Friday at the moment.  I don't think you are going to see gardens this weekend in London, Anne.  I'm sure you will find other herbal things to do.  You will have an idea for the next adventure to take to London later in the year.

The tile surrounding the fountain says "In celebration of healing herbs this fountain a gift from Gerard House of Cranesbill of Honeysuckle to cure to anoint of lavender spike + sage to refresh + to savor.  This garden was created by the Geffrye Museum Trust to inspire and to delight.  Fountain by Kate Malone.  Illustrates herbs grown by 17th Century London Herbalist John Gerrard 1994.

I wanted to post this so you could get a sense of how wonderful this herb garden is and why it is one of my favorites in London.  Even with a group of school children running around taking notes, it was a very calming place!  Hope you are having a great day!  Still cold here, but the daffodils are showing green!  Talk to you later!
