Resting Before the Big Day

Made this yesterday and tomorrow I will finish the process.  It is all about what I love to make, jelly and the herb of the year, horseradish (Armoracia rusticana).  So got to run and do errands before our last supper with our dear friend, Jim.  He lost his older daughter and his beloved wife last year and he is moving to the Chicago area to be closer to his only daughter.  We will miss him, but we know it is the best move for him.

The longest journey begins with the biggest step.

Hope you are having a great day!  Talk to you later.

  3. Sorry to hear of your friends loss. Life seems to full of "twists of fate" for everyone these days.

So what is it exactly you are going to do with the horseradish? Curiosity rules here!

  4. He didn't remember our names tonight, Mina! It is time for him to move!

    He's a lucky pup and you're a lucky mom!

For almost 95 years, he doesn't take a pill. He is losing his mind a little especially for names. His memory of the WWII is getting confused as well. He was interviewed several times when his memories were much better and he has written down his experiences for his daughter. A very good thing. Well, dear Carol, I'm making jelly with the ingredients in the jar, horseradish and white wine vinegar. I'll let you know how it is. Making some 4 oz. jars to try.

    Thanks for stopping by ladies.

  5. What dear friends you must be to each other and such a major move at 95. My Dad is 92 and what I have noticed in the past year is his openness in speaking of his WWII days on the Yorktown - his memories are crystal clear after remaining silent all these years.

Have a good day tomorrow and take care.

  6. Yes, TO, it was sad when he couldn't remember our names, but I think he is just overwhelmed by the thought of moving! Get your Dad to talk and write it down or tape it so you have it. The Herbal Husband searched for Jim's Squadron in WWII online, and has been providing missing information that Jim gave to his daughter. Got the jelly made and clear out The Herbal Husband's sinuses! Take care and stay warm! Maybe the 50's next week!
