The Two Cap Rule!

The deer started to browse what few TOMATOES we had growing the other day!  Sooo we had to pull out all the caps.  It doesn't always work, but the deer think that there is someone working in the garden.  They are also browsing the trees that have sprouted back from the ground.  That's OK!  The Herbal Husband thinks we can train these wild beasts!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  The Herbal Husband is off in Florida visiting a cousin and wife.  They were amazed that I don't own a bathing suit.  Florida is OK, but they will talk family and enjoy eating fried fish.  The weather here is supposed to be excellent and I couldn't miss it after ten days of rain.  Already cut most of the garlic chive flowers.  They are seriously challenging my herb garden.  Well, got to go feed the birds and enjoy the day in the garden.  Will share my adventures.  Talk to you later.

What a great idea! We don't have deer but do you have anything for raccoons?!

I had a friend who built a small room with chicken wire to keep the raccoons from getting her corn. It did work, but it was a lot of work!

Old story here in Wisconsin (probably a lot of other places too...) Play a radio out in the garden at night...either the raccoons will laugh like crazy or start to dance...worth a try! Your choice of musical selection...

I never heard of using caps to keep them away lol. Cute idea sort of like a scarecrow. So far I dont have to keep deer out of my garden. But then Im not getting much either cuz the soil isnt the best but Im working on it. I cut all my chives back now and dehydrated a bunch and froze the rest. Did some sage and thyme too. :)

Tomorrow is my day for gathering the thyme, sage and rosemary. Whats left of the basil and the savory will get done on Sunday.Oh and the oregano keep forgetting about it :) Won't be as much as last summer but enough to get me through the winter. Have to plant the new garlic crop too.
