A Closeup of a Favorite Herb Flower!
Almost forgot! Here is a closeup of the 'African Blue' basil flower. This was late last year. I think! The plant is almost gone! We have been having the leaves in salads and sauces. The smell is amazing! Hope you are having a wonderful day filled with herbal smells. I know the girls in the west (You know who you are!) are enjoying their herb gardens!

I love that basil. I don't really know how to cook with it but it is a beautiful landscape plant with a great scent.
We're still cutting that basil and can't believe it is turning itself into a sprightly perennial. But hey, that isn't why I wrote. I want to thank you for taking the time to post a comment on the Los Angeles Times blog about my new book. HURRAH! Your support helped get the story picked up by many other newspapers and weekend newspaper magazines. I so appreciate your help.

It is a bit stronger than the regular basil, Cindy. So less is better than more. Hope you are warming up!
Glad to help, Sharon. My book is on its way from Kentucky! Hope to inspire my friend's daughter with it this summer. She will be 13, but hopefully, still interested in the garden!
